Challenge

As an Associate Director on the Global Communications team, I was tasked with revitalizing the branding for OMERS and bringing design in house for the very first time. The organization felt their design across platforms felt outdated and lacked energy. I hired an innovative team that quickly set new brand expectations and delivered an omni-channel experience that has become the essence of the modern OMERS brand.

Solution

Elevating the brand required fast action around three core goals:

  1. hiring and nurturing an in-house design team that embodied the ethos of the new brand
  2. establishing a robust team workflow and efficient project management (using Asana), including building a unified design language
  3. cultivating a design philosophy rooted in the brand's values—authenticity, empathy, and sustainability

Results

The efforts of my team resulted in the following results:

  • spearheaded the creation of a transformative, energized brand vision that the entire OMERS collective could be proud of
  • developed guidelines and design template library that led to consistent, top-quality communications
  • established an in-house team of 5 cross-functional creatives, handling global communications and events in service of Singapore, New York, London (UK), and Toronto
